Zombie Defense in Civilization 6 is a Strange Shakeup of its Typical Strategic Formula
The Civilization series has always been dependable for fans of the turn-based strategy genre in providing a challenge and enabling players to choose how they conquer the game map. In Civilization 6, gamers take the role of one of several historical empires, be it as Saladin of Arabia or even Cleopatra of Egypt. Players are tasked with using their preferred civilization’s specialties to their edge whilst making sure they know the other strong clans on the map. Throughout the many iterations and DLC, the planning aspect has gone mostly unchanged. This was until the news of a new feature in a forthcoming DLC for Civilization 6 could alter the way the game is performed.

This isn’t anything surprising since the game show has introduced new leaders like this previously. What has come as the biggest surprise is that the new zombie style being released in this DLC. Usually seen in the FPS genre, zombies have occasionally made an appearance in strategy games before. But with Civilization 6 using such a distinct play style and approach to it, one has to wonder how this brand new zombies defense style will impact the gameplay.
Back From The Dead
For there to be zombies, there’ll need to be a few living being that becomes a member of the undead. Well, in this new game style, any Civ 6 device that gets killed on the battlefield is going to have the opportunity to come back to life for a zombie horde. All these hordes can kill other troops and spread the zombie plague. It can continue to get around to all cultures before the only beings walking the map would be the undead.
This may add a new degree of complications to gameplay, even Civilization 6’s famously strategic gameplay, whereas the participant used to slay an enemy and move on. However, when these enemies have a chance to return, the player may never have a chance to lower their defenses.
Along with zombies in the Civilization 6 DLC, players may have new options for traps and barricades to keep the hungry husks at bay. These new traps will damage zombies that pass or go close to them and can be constructed on neutral or possessed territories. Another intriguing characteristic of the zombie game style is both new structures that enable leaders to temporarily control zombies inside the town’s limits. Players will have the ability to order the zombies to strike enemy forces inside their city or simply send them out and closer to another player’s settlement.
The ideal situation for carrying on zombies, at least it seems in Civilization 6, will be to be able to funnel them as close together in as few entry points as you can, as players may set up some cubes and sentries in that funnel. The zombies will probably be dead before they get to the city’s outer wall. This doesn’t account for any zombies directed in civilization from other points, but it could help the player avoid being overwhelmed and losing more of their forces to the hordes. If the zombies figure out how to get inside the city’s walls, then speed will probably be most important in carrying out the undead before they have a chance to damage the workers and traders.
Some are sure to roll up their eyes at this new mode for Civilization 6 because zombies have been obsessed with gamers for years. Though the Civilization has generally relied on the realistic attributes of the empires it utilizes, this is a place where the studio has been flexing its creative muscles. Although with every other zombie game in the marketplace and releasing this year, you must wonder how this new DLC will face contrary to its undead contest.
